Rob Jackson - Op Granby
On deployment on Op Granby the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars manning level was enhanced by many on attachment to the Regiment, from other Regiments. The Royal Green Jackets was one such Regiment who supplied additional manpower. Those who joined us did so with total commitment, professionalism and determination. As the Irish Hussar & Battlegroup RSM, part of my responsibility was to ensure the attached personnel were made to feel welcome and understand that their contribution was crucial to us achieving the objectives set. The Irish Hussars made many new friends in those who came under our command and some of these friendships continue to date. It is worthy of note, that Cpl Rob Jackson from the RGJ was a young JNCO who endeared himself to those he served with. He remains in contact with many Irish Hussars and attends some of our Old Comrades Reunions. Cpl Jackson was held in high esteem by all who knew him and he was beyond doubt, a great ambassador for his Regiment.
