Tidworth May – August
During Mechanised Conversion Training we found time to both organise and win The South West District Skill at Arms meeting which was held on the Bulford and Tidworth Range complex over the weekend of 7th and 8th June. James Carter was given the task of organising the event and Simon Stanford-Tuck and Phillip Blackwell managed and trained the team, ably advised by such eminent ‘gravel bellies’ as W02 ‘Nobby’ Winkworth, C/Sgt Lloyd and Sgt Byrne. Bisley followed at the beginning of July. results were disappointing, but at least we have now started thinking about it again and we hope for better things in 1981.

Bisley
We again entered a shooting team this year. Manning our commitments in Cyprus restricted the size of the squad, so the twelve who formed up to start training in mid-April were mainly the known proven shots, with the exception on the team captain, Captain Richard Carrow. 3 Royal Anglian, who were to relieve us in Cyprus in December, kindly put the team up in Colchester to let them use the ranges there, only to be repaid by having us win the Eastern District Skill at Arms meeting at the end of June.
